Hyakkimaru as an infant. Dororo was a really lovely series by Osamu Tezuka that I finished last summer but it was definitely cut short towards the end, disappointingly.
In order to gain more power Hyakkimaru’s father creates a pact with 48 demons, who in return take a body part from his to-be-born son. What is born is this blind, deaf, mute, limbless squash and they send it down the river in a basket. A doctor finds it downstream and raises it, making it prostheses so it can look like a real boy and Hyakkimaru himself develops a frightening 6th sense that helps him move about despite the absence of all his body parts. When he is 18 he leaves home to win back his body parts from all 48 demons and to find his real father and he befriends an orphan thief named Dororo along the way.
They made a video game of it and a movie, one of which has a nice cult following but I forget which. The original comic itself is pretty overlooked and forgotten unfortunately.
